hair Extension after care
wefts / tape-ins / keratin bonded
the core three
Brushing
Brush your hair twice daily, gently holding the base of the extensions to prevent excess tension. Regularly section the hair around the extensions, carefully detangling as you go.
Hydration
Be sure to brush out any tangles or knots before proceeding with washing. When shampooing, apply the product onto the roots of your hair, and clean the scalp using zigzag motions. Make sure to wash and rinse above and below each extension. (Be mindful to leave no residue behind) Use a hydrating mask once a week, on the ends of the hair, to prolong the life of your extensions.
Protection
Always use a heat protectant prior to heat styling (blowdrying, flat ironing, curling, etc.) to prevent premature shedding or damage to the extensions. While blowdrying, be mindful to dry the base (ie: the tops of your wefts, or the sandwich of your tapes) to prolong their life span.
the skinny
activities
Saturate your hair with a mixture of water + conditioner, and braid the hair before swimming. Rinse your hair clean immediately after.
To avoid matting, detangle and then braid your hair for sleeping. It is recommended to use a bonnet, or silk pillowcase to avoid unnecessary friction on the extensions.
styling + products
During your initial installation, you will receive a care package.
A shampoo and conditioner, a detangling spray, and a heat protectant. This customized routine is what I recommend for at-home maintenance.
Keep in mind that when heat styling, lower the temperature on your tools. (No higher than 350 degrees)
cautions
Avoid using repairative or volumizing products on your extensions.
Sunscreen with the ingredient Avobenzone will turn extensions pink/orange
